Facebook’s Black Women Roundtable

Sandy was invited to Facebook’s Menlo Park Headquarters to meet with executive leadership to address silencing of Black women activists on the platform.

Afterwards she was asked to become a Member of Facebook’s Black Women Roundtable, brainstorming methods for combatting the discriminatory impact of Facebook’s Community Standards and policies.

Sandy frequently works with Facebook to highlight racial disparities in how Black women activists are discriminated against and silenced on the forum. Her work and input have influenced changes in policies on Facebook and Instagram to curtail bullying of Black women on the forum by white supremacists.

Invited to speak at the January 2017 Women’s March sister event in East Haddam, CT before approximately 500 attendees.

Trial Advocacy Clinical Instructor at Georgetown at 25 years old.

Volunteer Trial Advocacy Coach at Howard University Law School, leading a member of my team (the only 2nd year students in the entire competition) to beat out 3rd years to win Second Best Oral Advocate.

Johnnie Cochran was gracious and generous enough to conduct a mock trial for our clinical students and to give them direct and personal feedback. It was such a valuable 1:1 learning experience for them and he was so attentive, humble and kind.

Sandy Broadus graduated from Dartmouth College in 1988 in the Third Honor Group. Awards include the Pamela Joyner Love Essay prize in African and African-American Studies (as part of a symposium on black women’s literature), the Black Caucus Community Service Award (chosen by Faculty), and the Tucker Foundation Honor Society (community service).
